Unfortunately, violence in some form directed against current and former Democratic elected officials and the mainstream media by right wing extremists and/or deranged individuals has been a predictable result of the extreme political and social polarization which has been stoked at every opportunity by divider-in-chief Trump since he began his campaign, in addition to his outright praise for assaulters and prompts to violence at multiple rallies. Now we have at least 10 mail bombs sent to two former Democratic presidents, a former vice president and secretary of state, former CIA director and others, all critics of Trump, and including the New York office of CNN, also often critical of Trump. Most of these targets have also been verbally attacked by Trump et al, some like Hillary Clinton relentlessly. Despite condemning the attempted bombings (without ever even naming the targets) and decrying our political divisions and degree of anger in a couple of prepared statements, including one at a Wisconsin rally at which he was uncharacteristically semi-decent (and which he actually bragged about!), the hypocrite-in-chief incredibly but predictably denies ANY responsibility for creating or exacerbating these divisions with his constant incendiary rhetoric. Instead, in a brilliant example of projection, he has decided to blame one of his favorite targets, the media!! It appears that this will be one of his new themes going forward, that the media’s hostile and negative coverage (of him) is what is mostly responsible for the polarization of the country!! WOW!! It is all but certain that Trump will soon revert to his usual vicious self in his live events and tweets. So what else could we expect from a thin-skinned sociopathic narcissist with no ability to ever rise above his own selfish interests, no ability to accept responsibility for anything negative and no real regard for the welfare of the country he was elected to lead? And as usual, most elected Republicans have been either silent or at best very tepid in their rebuttal of this displaced blame game and criticism of Trump’s despicable rhetoric, of course blaming the other side as well!  It is probably only a matter of time before there is an event resulting in real harm to or death of an opposition official or journalist. Trump would probably try to come up with another scapegoat for that. And as if in a living nightmare, unbelievably Trump’s approval rating has actually been going up and the Democratic advantage in the midterms has been shrinking!  It goes without saying that every single one of us everywhere MUST vote!!!
