Would we be better or worse off with Pence as POTUS?

Many Americans (myself included) think Donald Trump is a disgrace to the presidency and a national embarrassment, and would like to see him gone before his current term is over. Of course, Trump’s impeachment and conviction are highly unlikely with a Republican-controlled House and Senate, even if many Republican lawmakers privately yearn for it. Other exit strategies are possible but also unlikely at this point. For the sake of argument, imagine Trump is gone. That would mean being subjected to President Mike Pence, a nauseating thought! Unlike Trump, he is a REAL right wing, bible-thumping, homophobic conservative, as well as an experienced and unctuous politician, who would be eager and able to advance a conservative agenda much better than Trump. He would work much better with congressional Republicans, and might be able to bridge some of the divides between factions that have scuttled ACA repeal/replace and that threaten to stymie any major upcoming legislation. That is in addition to any number of executive orders he might issue to implement his ideological goals. And just imagine what kind of supreme court justice he would pick for any vacancy! He would also be a formidable candidate for POTUS in 2020.
