Kushner Demotion, or Nepotism Doesn’t Pay (But It’s Still a Friggin Swamp!)
So Jared Kushner’s temporary top secret security clearance has finally been taken down a notch by Chief of Staff John Kelly, along with that of the dozens of other White House staffers with only temporary security clearances since last June. Although it’s definitely a good move, and better late than never, it is a grudging reaction to the Rob Porter scandal, which only resulted in action after highly embarrassing media exposure! It is also a win in Kelly’s battle against Kushner, who along with Ivanka should never have been given their ambiguous staff positions in the first place! They have absolutely no qualifications for their posts, and are ONLY there because of their familial relationship to Trump. There are also now reports that at least four countries discussed ways to try to manipulate Kushner to their advantage. This is blatant nepotism, and there are laws against it, for good reason! So much for draining the swamp! Trump is still treating the White House as a family business, and of course his base couldn’t care less! Nor do his Republican buddies, although of course if this were a Democratic administration they would all be screaming bloody murder! Although he has stated that he will go with Kelly’s decision, I would not be at all surprised if Trump ends up overruling him on Kushner’s security clearance. If he doesn’t, this will hopefully be one step closer to the exit for both the first daughter and son-in-law. And I’m still hoping that Kushner will be going from the White House to the Big House for financial crimes and/or conspiracy/collusion based on Mueller‘s investigation!
