What an Ass!!!
First, Happy Thanksgiving!
It has been a long time since the shock value has worn off for the myriad of appalling and absurd things the asshole-in-chief says, tweets and does, but he just never loses an opportunity to keep striving for new lows! A serial draft-dodger himself, Trump is the only president in recent years to not visit troops in a combat area in his first 1-2 years in office, reportedly due to fear of being killed(!). And he was actually too busy making phone calls to go to Arlington Cemetery on Veterans Day!! Despite that, he keeps trying to gaslight everyone by bragging about being the strongest president for the military! And of course he took the outrageous and inexcusable action of sending over 5000 troops to the southern border for purely political reasons before the midterm election. Today he very predictably could not resist turning a Thanksgiving conference call to military commanders in all service branches into a political event, inappropriately asking political opinions of the military officers, in addition to stupidity asking them about sensitive military information on live television!!
Always needing another adversary, Trump has also decided to get into a verbal war with the courts, particularly the ninth circuit court of appeals, which have appropriately blocked some of his executive orders, recently drawing a rare rebuke from Supreme Court chief Justice Roberts, with whom Trump also could not resist getting into a Twitter fight. Trump is actually threatening to take some unspecified action against the ninth circuit court, which is pretty ridiculous as well as reckless. This again highlights Trump’s real desire to be a dictator rather than President!
Another appalling but predictable development is Trump‘s public dismissal of the CIA’s (and others’) assessment of the Jamal Khashoggi murder and selling out of American values for the sake of a few billion dollars (which he falsely touts as hundreds of billions) in arms sales to Saudi Arabia and the perceived necessity for maintaining a close personal relationship with the Saudi crown prince. The long term global ramifications of this kind of decision are frightening.
The idiot-in-chief also tweeted today about the extreme cold in the Northeast, citing it as evidence against global warming!!! Never mind that the northeastern portion of North America is almost the only part of the world experiencing abnormally cold temperatures, with many more areas around the world unusually warm. Is he really that stupid, or does he really think that this is an important issue to his base? Or (more likely) does he just reflexively do anything possible to stoke the culture wars and further divide the country?
I guess one thing we have to be thankful for is that Trump’s term is almost half over, and at least the new House will be able to exert significant checks on him for the next two years, even if impeachment doesn’t happen, although he has already proven that he can surprise everyone!
