All Hail Czar Donald I

It is painfully clear from his behavior, statements and tweets that Donald Trump not only does not understand the traditional partitions between the president and the Justice Department and other limitations of presidential influence, but has contempt for them. It is very clear that he would like to run the government the way he ran his businesses, i.e. as a dictator, expecting personal loyalty from everyone else in the executive branch as if they were his own employees. In fact, he would like to be Czar Donald I! This is likely one reason he obviously idolizes and refuses to criticize dictator Putin, although we are still awaiting the discovery of possible financial or other Russian ties. This is just one more way in which the Trump presidency is jeopardizing the stability and future of our democracy, such as it is, both domestically and globally. This goes hand-in-hand with the constant flow of lies/propaganda emanating from Trump and his spokespeople and constant attacks on a “free” press as fake news and the enemy of the people, all textbook hallmarks of a dictatorship. It is also highly unfortunate, concerning and offensive that many if not most congressional Republicans are willing to go along with or ignore all of these shameful and destructive practices for the sake of political advantage. Even without any global catastrophes (such as from reckless "my nuclear button is bigger than your nuclear button" tweets), the sooner we get rid of our would-be czar, the better for everyone! Happy New Year, America!
